Yamashina Tokitsune (山科言経)
Tokitsune YAMASHINA (August 12, 1543 - April 10, 1611) was a Kugyo (top court official) during the Sengoku period (period of warring states) and during the early Edo period. He was ranked at Shonii (Senior Second Rank), Gon Chunagon (provisional vice-counselor of state). His father was Tokitsugu YAMASHINA, and his mother was the daughter of Yoritsugu HAMURO.
He was the author of "Tokitsune-kyo Ki" (Lord Tokitsune's Diary.)
In 1553, he was appointed as Jugoi (Junior Fifth Rank), Kuraryo (Bureau of Palace Storehouses.)
He was ranked at Jusani (Junior Third Rank) in 1570, Sangi (councilor) in 1571, Chunagon (vice-councilor of state) in 1577. In July 21, 1585, he and the Reizei family were punished by Imperial order and he ran away to Settsu Province. He made his living by practicing medicine in the provinces, but thanks to Chokumen (being pardoned by Emperor's order) he returned to the Imperial Court in January 3, 1599 with a strong recommendation of Ieyasu TOKUGAWA.
In 1602, he was ranked at Shonii (Senior Second Rank.)
He wrote the diary called "Tokitsune-kyo Ki."
